My teaching reflections…
Beginner’s Questionnaire:
I scored a 13 on the Beginner’s questionnaire. I feel that I like to use lecture and small group discussion to relay the content and to keep the interest of my students. The roles of the student and instructor is a tie between actively creating their own knowledge. In regards to assessments, I use them to assess application of skills and as a learning tool for students.
POT’s Getting Started Chart:
I am now using Blackboard as a supplement to all my classes. One of my learning objectives is to learn how to use Moodle and how to implement the program into my classroom curriculum.
How do I like to teach? I definitely like to use a combination of lecture and discussion/group work. I also like to organize by type of content. For example, PowerPoint lectures, Discussion Board, Handouts/Course Materials, etc.
My pedagogical goals and objectives for my students:
- Creating a comfortable environment for my students to share in discussion boards
- To develop and create on online portfolio of their current and lifetime goals. (Visual aide for their academic, career, and health goals).
- Develop on online educational plan
- Be able to research appropriate services on and off campus that relate to student goals.

Good start with your pedagogical goals. Now you get to explore and experiment with different tools that will allow you to do these well. Be open to using tools that are not available to you inside an LMS like Blackboard or Moodle, especially for the portfolios. If you are concerned with student portfolio privacy, explore the options that meet their privacy needs if any.

Thank you for responding Pilar. Great tip on using outside resources for student portfolio. Now to begin my research…
